Powering Up Creativity with Metaphors

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Our thinking is filled with metaphors, conscious and unconscious, that describe how we experience life. “Well, that meeting was like climbing a mountain,” “She's a force of nature,” “Creativity is a journey, not a destination.” Metaphors are simply comparing one thing to another to help us understand or convey something about how we make meaning. In this interactive, reflective session, we will introduce principles from the “Clean Language” approach (Wendy Sullivan, Judy Rees, and others). This approach is firmly grounded in cognitive psychology and psycholinguistics. By tuning in to our own and others' metaphors we give ourselves a powerful tool for creative thinking and innovation.
