Dung Beetles, Drums and Deserts: Lessons in Creativity from Africa

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this session, we will share our 4-step process for growing creativity. The process likens creativity development to the restoration of a buried, treasured oil lamp. The steps involve digging out, cleaning off, filling up and lighting. Each step will include practical activities for participants to do in the session as well as exercises or tools or inspiration for them to take away with them. We will illustrate the process and provide insight using anecdotes from a variety of African sources, ranging from bushveld creatures to South African townships to archaeological digs in Egypt. The session will be delivered using a digital mind map. Many of our participants have commented that they really enjoy learning via mind maps as they find the flow easy to follow and the key points easy to remember. We will include humour, participant input, intrigue and fun.

In this Coffee Break you will:
  • Learn to identify what could be holding your creativity back.
  • Learn practical steps to take your creativity to the next level.
  • Be exposed to activities, resources and tools that you can begin using right away.
